If you have opened the asset list at the weekend, the markets still moving were the OTC ones. Here is what that label means and why those pairs matter.
What the OTC label means
OTC stands for over-the-counter. An OTC market is quoted continuously rather than following a single exchange's opening hours, which is why it does not close when that exchange does.
For a fuller explanation of the concept, see what is OTC in Binoria.
Why they are useful
- Weekends. The obvious one. If Saturday is when you have time, OTC pairs are what is available.
- Public holidays, when exchange-hours markets are shut.
- Outside your local session, if your day does not line up with the market you follow.
- Consistency. Being able to trade at the same time every day matters more for building a routine than which specific market you use.
How to find them
- Open the asset selector at the top of the chart.
- Look for markets with OTC in the name.
- Select one — the chart, expiry selector and order panel work exactly as they do everywhere else.
OTC pairs are not a separate product and do not need a separate account. They sit in the same asset list and use the same balance.
Try them on the demo
OTC markets are the easiest thing to explore on a demo account, precisely because they are available whenever you happen to have time — including the weekend.
